Responsibilities

Assist with the management/direction of general accounting functions/processes

Responsible for successfully closing Wellstar Health Systems financial statements monthly

Maintain and approve various journal entries prepared by team members

Assist with the application of GAAP to new transactions, where applicable, including researching guidance and proposing accounting positions

Ensures that the monthly close calendar is adhered to and that all close and compliance procedures are met

Perform balance sheet and income statement analyses

Review balance sheet account reconciliations and assist in ensuring completion

Assist with preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial and compliance reporting

Supports annual audits

Manage/supervise the general accounting staff

Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training new employees

Assigns responsibilities to team members giving consideration to skill/experience levels

Supervise staff in performance of their duties including annual performance evaluations

Mentor/coach and continue to train and develop in order to allow for better utilization and efficiency of team members and responsibilities

Assist with continuing education for staff through department meetings and special sessions

Assist with special projects as assigned

Acquisitions, accounting, and reporting

Performs other duties as assigned

Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct

Required

Bachelor's Degree Accounting/Finance

Minimum 5 years experience in finance, accounting

Working and current knowledge of US GAAP rules and regulations

Strong analytical skills and demonstrated ability to solve complex problems

Strong written and verbal communication including interpersonal skills necessary to lead direct reports and interact effectively with business leaders across different functions throughout the organization

Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, highly adaptable to change

Ability to manage and lead multiple projects, delegate work, prioritize work, meet deadlines and concentrate on detailed information

Self-motivated and proactive, conscientious and detail-oriented
