Responsibilities

Dynamic performance studies within tender and project execution of HVDC projects; Optimizing the dynamic behavior of the HVDC converter (e.g., black-start and network restoration, grid forming controls, multi-terminal systems) according to customer and national grid code requirements
Analyzing sub-synchronous torsional/control interactions and the harmonic converter impedance, as well as potential interactions between the HVDC converter and other controlled devices in the power system
Developing and validating simulation models for diverse EMT simulation tools (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV)
Customer training in simulation models and presentation of study results to customer
Continuous improvement and standardization of simulation models, study procedures and methods, processes in project execution as well as documentation of results
Supporting the project management in technical discussions, participating in customer meetings, and coordinating external partners

Required

University degree or equivalent experience in electrical power engineering or control engineering in combination with PhD degree and experience in power engineering industry
1 or more years of experience. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa
Good knowledge in high voltage applications, power transmission systems, power electronics and HVDC technology
Expertise in control engineering and modeling of HVDC systems in the time domain and frequency domain
Professional user of typical power system simulation programs (e.g., PSCAD/EMTDC, Matlab/Simulink, EMTP-RV)
Willing and able to travel, as needed (up to 10%)
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization
