The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is offering internships and fellowships at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Chemical Defense. The selected participants will engage in research activities focused on understanding chemical and acute non-kinetic threats, as well as developing medical countermeasures for effective treatment and prophylaxis.

Responsibilities

Gaining experience in operant behavioral testing, biosampling, molecular, cellular, and biochemical techniques, physiological instrumentation and analysis, data management, software applications, record keeping, compliance training, and the principles of scientific study design

Learning both general and specialized research skills that will support advancing your scientific knowledge and technical career goals

Reviewing project portfolios and gaining an overview of primary aims and methodologies

Developing a deeper conceptual and practical understanding of research methodologies while contributing to results and reporting

Required

The qualified candidate will have a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree in an eligible discipline or will have an earned degree by June 30, 2026

Degree must have been received within five years of the application date

U.S. military veterans who have been honorably discharged (or who have been medically discharged because of a service-connected disability) and who received a bachelor's, master's or doctoral degree within ten years of the desired start date are also eligible
