Engine Assembly Technician

Responsibilities

Assemble high-precision mechanical subassemblies and engine modules in a bench/table build environment
Perform mechanical assembly requiring tight tolerances and controlled stack-ups
Execute axial and concentric alignment of components where tolerance accumulation directly affects performance
Install and verify sealing systems supporting pressurized and high-temperature environments
Apply torque, preload, and fastening sequences per detailed work instructions
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and controlled build documentation
Use precision measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, feeler gauges) to verify fitment and alignment
Maintain strict cleanliness and handling standards to protect sealing surfaces and critical interfaces
Perform in-process inspections and document build results
Identify, document, and escalate fitment, alignment, or tolerance-related risks
Support test readiness, teardown, inspection, and rebuild activities as designs iterate
Collaborate with engineering and quality teams to improve assembly methods, tooling, and processes

Required

High school diploma or GED required
3+ years of hands-on precision mechanical assembly experience
Strong mechanical aptitude with demonstrated experience working to very tight tolerances
Familiarity with tolerance stack-ups and their impact on system performance
Experience using precision measurement and inspection tools
Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical drawings and assembly instructions
Comfortable working in disciplined, high-accuracy environments
Strong attention to detail, patience, and consistency in execution
Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams

Preferred

Background in aerospace, aviation, medical devices, pressure systems, or advanced engine assemblies
Jet engine or turbine assembly experience
Experience working in clean room or clean-build environments (not required)
Exposure to prototype, pilot, or R&D manufacturing environments
Experience with pressurized systems or sealing-critical assemblies
