Responsibilities

Develop intimate knowledge and understanding of the state of clinical practice in a healthcare setting

Refine diagnostic and assessment skills

Gain evidenced based consultative and intervention proficiencies

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Report to a Clinical Health Psychologist

Adhere to the functional and foundational competency domains outlined by the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP)

Pursue and obtain board certification as a Clinical Health Psychologist

1-year commitment to Clinical Health Psychology Postdoctoral Residency

Knowledge of the biopsychosocial model

Skills to assess biopsychosocial domains in the context of a clinical interview

Core assessment competencies including familiarity with a broad range of psychological measures

Proficiency in the application of evidence-based psychotherapy and health/behavior interventions

Professionalism and interpersonal nuance

Flexibility and openness to feedback

Emotional intelligence

Fluency with medical nomenclature

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Comfort presenting to a professional audience

Computer literacy, especially with Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, TEAMS)

Intermediate knowledge with statistical programs (e.g., SPSS)

Preferred

Exposure to the hospital setting (e.g., via internship)
