Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and grow a team of Data, ML, and Backend engineers
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning
Conduct one-on-ones, performance reviews, and career development planning
Guide the team in adopting modern engineering practices (Agile, CI/CD, test-driven development, clean code)
Provide technical direction across data engineering, machine learning systems, and backend services
Oversee system architecture and design in collaboration with senior engineers and data scientists
Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and performant in production
Drive continuous improvement in data pipelines, ML model deployment, and backend service reliability
Partner with product managers to translate business needs into technical solutions
Collaborate with other engineering teams to integrate AI capabilities into the broader platform
Contribute technical insights to roadmap discussions and influence prioritization
Manage timelines, resources, and deliverables across multiple projects
Actively engage in sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives
Ensure on-time delivery of features while maintaining technical quality
Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows and tooling
Promote rigorous code reviews, testing, and monitoring practices
Encourage experimentation and adoption of new AI/ML technologies and methods
Qualification
Required
5+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 2+ years in a managerial or technical lead role
Strong technical breadth with working knowledge across data engineering, machine learning, and backend development
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Proven experience delivering production-grade AI/ML systems in SaaS or enterprise environments
Must have expertise with AWS cloud platform
Proficiency with Python, SQL, and ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn) plus backend frameworks (e.g., Node.js, Java, .NET, or similar)
Familiarity with MLOps practices and data pipeline tools (Spark, Airflow, Kafka, etc.)
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate diverse engineering talent
Excellent communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Demonstrated success managing competing priorities in fast-paced, high-growth environments
Preferred
Nice to have expertise with other cloud platforms (Azure, GCP) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
