Senior Project Manager, Capital Improvement Program

Responsibilities

Responsible for overall project management to include budgets, change orders, schedule, contractor GMP's, contract management and quality control in compliance with industry and institutional standards
Must have strong organizational skills for managing and compiling project data
Must have strong written and verbal skills for project reporting including Executive leadership of the organization
Manage complex capital facility projects greater than $4M with a strong focus on large scale projects
Manages A/E teams, construction teams, internal and external project management teams, internal teams, third party consultants, etc. to ensure compliance with design specifications, schedules, and contractual commitments as it pertains to the project
Manages the project teams from Planning/Programming, Design, Construction, Owner Occupancy to First Patient
Develops project schedule and Owner schedule for defining all required steps from Planning/Programming to first patient
Manages contractual compliance and relationships for the assigned projects
Defines and implements contractual and financial strategies
Coordinates approval procedures with the BOR, and THECB and associated State Agencies
Works collaboratively with purchasing in the preparation of necessary documentation for contract award and all procurement needs
Support the ROCIP and HUB program on the selected projects
Implements installation of capital equipment as required
Develops and manages project documentation, record keeping, financial and activity status reports that are accurate, up-to-date, clear and complete in support of the decision making, issue solving and informing processes of a project
Manage and track projects in the CIP centralized project management information system
Close out projects to ensure documents are uploaded to eBuilder and properly issued to Facilities Management
Monitor the status of project permits and inspections to ensure that they are completed and properly documented
Address and manage critical issues impacting project quality and safety
Use of eBuilder for the project management system
Must demonstrate strong leadership in managing all consultants, contractors, and project teams internal and external
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience
7 years Project Management experience, and large scale project management experience
Design and Construction experience with academic healthcare and/or research facilities and/or project management/construction management experience with a focus in healthcare, academic, and/or research facilities

Preferred

Proven experience managing external engineers, architects, consultants, and construction teams
Demonstrated success delivering large-scale capital projects valued at $25 million to $100+ million
Design and construction experience in academic healthcare and/or research facilities, or comparable project/construction management experience with a healthcare, academic, or research focus
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to 'read the room,' including awareness of cues, body language, and stakeholder dynamics
Polished communication style with exceptional verbal and written skills; ability to tailor messaging, level of detail, and tone to the audience, including senior executive leadership
Highly effective negotiator with strong conflict resolution capabilities
Critical thinker with the ability to assess complex issues, manage risk, and make sound decisions in high-visibility environments
Professional judgment and discretion, with an expectation of precision, clarity, and excellence in all communications and deliverables
