Elections Administrative Specialist

NEOGOV is seeking an Elections Administrative Specialist to provide complex clerical, secretarial, and administrative support within the Elections Department. The role involves managing office operations, coordinating voter engagement events, and ensuring compliance with election policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Coordinates and prioritizes daily operations of the Elections Office; assigns and monitors tasks; assists with complex issues and provides technical guidance
Supports the Elections Administrator in planning, organizing, and administering election operations, logistics, and special projects
Coordinates election logistics, contracts, and cancellations; monitors election functions to ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
Oversees accessibility compliance in polling locations, including ADA remedies and Department of Justice settlement obligations
Serves as liaison to county and state agencies, attorneys, and the public regarding election policies and procedures. Acts as spokesperson in the Administrator’s absence
Assists with preparation, monitoring, and reporting of the Elections Office budget
Researches and compiles statistical, financial, and administrative data; prepares reports, presentations, and agenda materials for Commissioners Court and other stakeholders
Maintains and organizes confidential records, contracts, correspondence, and election-related documentation in accordance with retention requirements
Represents the Elections Office in interactions with officials, media, civic organizations, and the general public
Coordinates with the county’s media contact and participates in outreach events, voter engagement activities, and community presentations
Provides high-level administrative support to the Elections Administrator, including managing calendars, scheduling, correspondence, travel arrangements, and office supply procurement
Drafts, edits, and prepares correspondence, memoranda, contracts, reports, and other official documents
Receives and responds to inquiries, complaints, and public requests for information, ensuring professional customer service
Supports routing and administration of contracts, agreements, and renewals approved by Commissioners Court
Oversees and coordinates Grounds Use Agreements for Elections/IT facilities
Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the Elections Office

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited university with major coursework in business or public administration, political science closely, or related field preferred
Requires three years' experience in office management, administrative support, secretarial or highly responsible office/clerical work or related work
Any equivalent combination of education and experience or training may be substituted on a year for year basis
Class C driver's license
Notary Public required
Ability to maintain continuing education requirements for the State of Texas
