Responsibilities

Extract and interpret relevant information from court papers in order to process documents

Reviewing filings for compliance with court rules

Typing and drafting court orders and correspondences

Responding to telephone and written inquiries from the general public, attorneys, and litigants

Typing and proofreading court orders and other written materials; assistance with legal research and preparation of court documents

Familiarity with appeals

Sorting and distributing mail

Entering computer data and covering switchboard

Qualification

Required

High school diploma or the equivalent and two (2) years of relevant clerical experience

Four (4) years of relevant clerical experience

An equivalent combination of education and experience

Thirty (30) college level credits may be substituted for each year of work experience

Excellent communication and organizational skills with attention to detail

Preferred

Familiarity with NYSCEF

Familiarity with current office productivity software, including WordPerfect
