Responsibilities
Split time between hands-on engineering work and team leadership/management
Lead architectural decisions and guide the technical direction of the platform
Coach, mentor, and support engineers across multiple levels while still contributing high-quality code
Drive engineering best practices, coding standards, processes, and team culture
Design, build, and maintain scalable applications across the full stack
Architect and maintain cloud infrastructure across AWS, GCP, and/or Azure
Implement CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code frameworks
Optimize system performance, reliability, and security—critical in finance/crypto environments
Design and maintain high-performing SQL and NoSQL databases
Collaborate with product, design, and leadership to deliver features that drive business outcomes
Identify and address system bottlenecks, deploying long-term fixes and automation
Stay current with emerging technologies to maintain a modern, scalable tech ecosystem
Support hiring efforts and help build a high-performing engineering team
Work closely with product and business leaders to align technical initiatives with company goals
Break down complex problems and help the team execute efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Foster a collaborative, transparent, and accountable engineering culture
Qualification
Required
5–10+ years of software engineering experience with deep hands-on skills
Prior experience leading or mentoring engineers (formal management experience preferred but not required)
Strong foundation in computer science, system design, and software architecture
Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, Go, Java, etc.)
Full-stack development experience (front-end frameworks + backend services + APIs)
Strong experience with multi-cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure)
Knowledge of DevOps practices, CI/CD, containers, automation, and IaC (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.)
Expertise in relational and/or NoSQL database design and optimization
Understanding of security best practices—especially important in finance and crypto applications
Player/coach mindset: able to lead while still actively contributing
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to tackle unfamiliar technical areas
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
Preferred
Experience in start-up or high-growth environments strongly preferred
