Sales Representative - A&D Specification & Dealer Development
Matter Surfaces is a fast-growing, innovative supplier of premium design flooring and entrance solutions. They are seeking a high-performing sales professional to grow their business across North and South Carolina, focusing on A&D specification and dealer development.

Responsibilities
Call on architects, interior designers, and design-focused end users throughout North and South Carolina to position Matter Surfaces products early in the design process
Secure, track, and actively protect product specifications through bidding, award, and installation
Develop and maintain strong relationships with targeted A&D firms and design-influencing end users across the Carolinas
Represent Matter Surfaces at design presentations, showroom meetings, client lunches, and industry events
Stay current on design, material, and market trends impacting commercial interiors
Prospect, develop, and expand relationships with flooring dealers and contractors throughout both states
Drive negotiated and contractor-led sales opportunities, including awarded, design-build, and owner-driven projects
Position Matter Surfaces as a preferred partner through responsiveness, pricing support, product knowledge, and execution reliability
Collaborate with dealers and contractors to convert specifications into purchase orders and installed work
Support pricing strategy, product positioning, and negotiation efforts in coordination with internal leadership
Build and manage a balanced pipeline of specification-driven and negotiated opportunities using CRM tools
Provide accurate forecasting and reporting on pipeline health, specification activity, and awarded revenue
Work closely with the EVP of Sales to align on Carolinas territory strategy, target accounts, and key pursuits
Collaborate cross-functionally with customer service, operations, and logistics teams to ensure seamless project execution
Partner with internal sales colleagues to support shared projects and regional initiatives
Qualification
Required
Proven ability to operate effectively in a hybrid sales role that blends specification influence with revenue-driven, buy-side selling
Equally credible and comfortable calling on A&D firms, flooring dealers, contractors, developers, and end users
Strong understanding of the commercial project lifecycle, from design intent through installation
Demonstrated success converting specifications into awarded business and installed revenue
Hunter mentality balanced with strong relationship management skills
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation abilities
Highly organized, disciplined, and accountable in managing multiple active opportunities
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and urgency
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) or equivalent experience
3–7+ years of sales experience in commercial flooring, building products, or design-driven sales environments
Experience managing specification pipelines and negotiated sales opportunities concurrently
Proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Preferred
Existing relationships within the North Carolina and/or South Carolina A&D and dealer/contractor communities strongly preferred
