Design Manager

Kitchell is seeking an experienced and dedicated Design Manager to join our Central California region in Fresno and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States. The Design Manager will collaborate with various stakeholders to develop project charters, manage design quality assurance, and ensure compliance with standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide design management services on (DSA) k-12 programs
Act as an Owner’s Representative with direct client facing responsibilities
Collaborate with district leadership, site administrators, and community stakeholders
Develop and monitor preconstruction schedules and budgets to ensure alignment with program goals and fiscal constraints
Identify and mitigate design risks, including schedule delays, permitting hurdles, and budget overruns
Ensure all designs support long-term sustainability goals, ADA accessibility, and DSA/code compliance
Simultaneously manage the design for multiple projects located across multiple campus sites
Manage and supervise a team of design professionals and other professionals through the design review process
Oversight of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance to project requirements
Responsible for quality control and assurance of projects in design
Conduct project meetings and provide documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information
Ensure architects and engineers adhere to contractual requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field is required
10 years of progressive and position related work experience in project and construction management is required
Experience in Education/Division of State Architect(DSA) market sector in California is required
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Project Suite of tools is required
Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the advanced ability to foster and maintain effective interpersonal relationships is required
Ability to provide leadership and management support is required
Valid driver's license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions is required

Preferred

Degree in Architecture is highly preferred
Well-versed in multiple delivery methods such as Design-Build, Design Bid Build, CM multi-prime, strongly preferred
User knowledge of Bluebeam and Procore are preferred
Certified Construction Manager (CCM) credential is preferred
LEED professional accreditation is preferred
