Senior Overhead Transmission Engineer
PTS Advance is seeking a Senior Overhead Transmission Engineer to lead the design of complex transmission line projects from start to finish. The role involves guiding design teams, ensuring compliance with codes and quality standards, and supporting business development efforts.
Responsibilities
Lead transmission line design from concept through final design (conductor sizing, EFM, impedance, losses, voltage drop, induction)
Develop equipment specs, RFQs, bid reviews, and purchasing recommendations
Perform and review conductor selection studies, grounding and lightning performance analyses
Ensure designs meet NESC and applicable regulatory requirements (NERC, FERC, regional standards)
Review vendor drawings and coordinate with clients, suppliers, and internal design teams
Support project planning, schedules, budgets, staffing, and change management
Review drawings, calculations, and construction activities to ensure quality and resolve field issues
Lead field inspections and support installation and testing as needed
Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry use
Build strong client relationships and support sales, proposals, and cost estimates
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership
Ensure QA/QC, safety, and cross-discipline coordination standards are followed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
6–7+ years of transmission engineering experience
Strong knowledge of transmission design codes, standards, and tools (PLS-CADD, AutoCAD, MicroStation, Civil 3D, MathCAD, RISA-3D, BIM tools)
Experience leading technical teams and reviewing complex engineering deliverables
Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to travel as needed
Preferred
