Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize network infrastructure for both local and wide area networks (LAN/WAN). Ensure the network meets the current and future needs of the business

Oversee and maintain network devices, such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers. Ensure the network operates at peak performance with minimal downtime

Diagnose and resolve network-related issues quickly. Provide technical support and guidance to junior network engineers and other IT staff

Implement network security policies and practices to safeguard the organization’s data and infrastructure. Monitor the network for security vulnerabilities and respond to threats proactively

Continuously monitor the network’s performance, identify areas of improvement, and optimize network operations to support high availability

Maintain comprehensive documentation on network configurations, procedures, and architecture. Ensure all network changes are properly documented and updated

Work closely with other IT teams (e.g., Systems, Security, and DevOps) to integrate network requirements into broader projects and initiatives

Lead or participate in network-related projects, ensuring proper planning, resource allocation, and timely execution

Collaborate with third-party vendors for the installation and support of network hardware and software

Required

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience)

Typically, 5-10 years of experience in network engineering or a similar role, with a proven track record in managing complex network infrastructures

Relevant certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)

Proficiency with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, and wireless networks

Experience with network monitoring tools and software (e.g., SolarWinds, Meraki)

Knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, ARP, SNMP, and others

Understanding of network security practices and tools (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS)

Experience with cloud networking (Azure, Google Cloud) and SD-WAN solutions

Knowledge of IPv4/IPv6 addressing, routing protocols (BGP), and network management protocols

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with teams and document issues

Leadership capabilities to guide and mentor junior engineers

Time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously

Preferred

Experience with network automation and scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform)
