Clinical Skills
Completion of VI competencies
Able to use critical thinking skills
Work in conjunction with radiologists/ vascular surgeons/ cardiologists
Preps the patient for procedure
Demonstrates and understands sterile technique
Prepares necessary supplies and equipment for procedure
Enters appropriate charges for supplies and procedure(SIM CODES)
Quality and Patient Safety
Verifies patient ID using 2 patient identifiers, ie. Armband, DOB, verbal identification
Verifies front of patient chart for same/similar name sticker
Verifies Written Order and Consent, seeks clarification if order or consent unclear
Uses and understands preprocedural verification/ time out form
Understands and complies with site/ side marking when indicated
Departmental Responsibilities
Must be flexible with hours to meet departmental needs
Able to work scheduled and 'On-Call'
Knows existing lines of communication and authority
Handles communications properly
Introduces self to patient and/or guardian utilizing proper scripting ie. AIDET
Transports patients as needed
Provides privacy and comfort for patient/customers
Assists with maintenance of departmental records, Joint Commission standards, State and Federal Regulations and performance Improvement
Completes necessary paperwork
Answers departmental phone using proper scripting
Maintains stock levels and outdates
Maintain current License and BLS certifications
Assist in in service/training for other medical imaging staff as appropriate
Works as a team with other VI staff to obtain the best possible outcome
Performs any other duties as needed when asks by leadership
Patient Education
Responsible for patient, family/support system education
Provide post procedural home care instructions as needed
Performs other duties as assigned
Complies with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct
Qualification
Required
Graduate of AMA approved School of Radiology Technology
Minimum 1 year experience in Interventional Special Procedures setting in either IR and/or vascular hybrid setting
Able to function independently during procedures after appropriate orientation/competency on unit and as demonstrated by being place on call rotation
Competency in all aspects of interventional/vascular procedures, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection
Required special/advanced procedure registry as outlined above
Must have an understanding of anatomy and pathology as well as how they affect the quality of a procedure
The individual must be able to communicate and understand verbal and written English language and display a positive attitude
ARRT Radiography Required
Basic Life Support Required
BLS - Instructor Required
BLS - Provisional Required
