Equipment and Inventory Manager
GMB Powerline Services is a family-owned utility contractor based in West Virginia, dedicated to providing high-quality utility construction and storm restoration services. The Equipment & Inventory Manager oversees the lifecycle of tools and inventory, ensuring compliance with safety standards and managing procurement activities.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement tooling policies, procedures, and standards for electric utility operations
Maintain accurate records of all tools, calibration schedules, and certifications
Forecast tooling needs based on project pipeline and operational requirements
Oversee tool crib operations, including issuance, returns, and tracking
Implement systems for tool tracking (RFID/barcode) to minimize loss and downtime
Manage vendor relationships for tooling procurement and repairs
Assist with procurement of parts and supplies for the fleet team
Ensure all tools are routinely tested and meet OSHA, ANSI, and utility-specific safety standards
Perform/Coordinate regular inspections, testing, and calibration of specialized equipment
Maintain compliance documentation for audits and client requirements
Prepare and manage tooling budget, including capital expenditures and maintenance costs
Identify opportunities for cost savings through standardization and preventive maintenance
Supervise tooling technicians and warehouse staff
Provide training on proper tool use, care, testing and safety protocols
Qualification
Required

Develops and enforces equipment and tooling policies
Ensures accurate tracking and documentation
Maintains compliance with OSHA, ANSI, and customer-specific standards
Manages tool crib operations
Coordinates inspections, testing, and calibration
Supports procurement activities for tools, parts, and fleet-related supplies
Responsible for budgeting, vendor management, and cost-control strategies
Provides leadership and direction to tooling and shop staff
Ensures proper training in equipment use, care, safety, and compliance
