2+ years expChestnut Carbon is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to support our growing finance and accounting operations. This high-impact role will ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records as the company scales its nature-based carbon removal initiatives.

Responsibilities
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness
Prepare and record journal entries including accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany transactions
Assist in the monthly, quarterly, and end-year close process
Process accounts payable invoices, expenses, and credit card charges in a timely and accurate manner
Assist with invoicing, processing and reconciling deposits, receipts and disbursements
Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal management reports
Support annual audits and tax filings by preparing requested schedules and documentation
Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting records, files, and documentation
Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
Work closely with other departments on special projects or routine tasks to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
2+ years of relevant accounting experience (public or private)
Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
Experience with ERP systems, NetSuite experience is a plus
Strong Excel skills and proficiency with MS office software
High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
Experience in a start-up or high-growth environment is a plus
Familiarity with carbon markets or environmental sciences is a plus
