Responsibilities
Lead the configuration, deployment, and upgrade of core optical transport equipment using Nokia (Ciena) 6500 series platforms
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for optical transport technologies, including DWDM and OTN architectures
Provide advanced troubleshooting and operational support during and after network upgrades in live production environments
Support the strategic initiative to perform large-scale upgrades internally, reducing reliance on external vendors
Work closely with IP and MPLS engineering teams, finance, and project management stakeholders to ensure successful execution
Qualification
Required
Strong hands-on experience with optical transport networks
Deep knowledge of DWDM (Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing)
Deep knowledge of OTN (Optical Transport Network)
Deep knowledge of fiber optic principles and transmission standards
Experience with Nokia 6500 series optical transport platforms
Experience with Ciena optical transport equipment
Experience in configuration, deployment, and upgrade of optical transport systems
Optical network design and architecture experience
Understanding of fiber types and test methodologies
Integration and interoperability with IP and MPLS networks
Advanced diagnostic and fault isolation skills
Proven ability to resolve complex issues in production environments
Performance monitoring and optimization skills
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience managing large-scale network upgrades
Strong implementation planning and execution skills
Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
