Responsibilities
Review project plans, requirements, and specifications to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project and define scope of work, labor, and equipment costs
Prepare quantity takeoffs and pricing through self-perform production-based estimates or unit price estimating
Analyze bid documents and material requirements to assess constructability and material needs
Initiate subcontractor solicitations and engage in quality discussions to gain detailed knowledge of assigned work
Prepare bid packages, including comparison and analysis of competitive subcontractor and supplier bids
Evaluate subcontractor bonding capabilities, workload, and prior performance
Develop estimates for multiple delivery systems and review quotes with the project management team
Assist with certain post-bid buyouts
Participate in presentations with subcontractors and suppliers
Understand contract requirements for diversity compliance
Qualification
Required
Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
8+ years of experience
Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods, costs, and engineering principles
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Strong understanding of costs and market conditions
Accountability for commitments and continuous improvement
Ability to interpret subcontractor quotations and project documentation accurately
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Advanced proficiency with estimating software
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Willingness to travel for projects in different regions
