Corporate Communications Intern

Ho-Chunk, Inc. is the award-winning economic development corporation of the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The Corporate Communications Intern will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of corporate communications while contributing to company-wide initiatives.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing and executing communication plans that align with company goals
Write, design, and edit content for newsletters, reports, press releases, websites, and social media
Coordinate photo and video content creation and maintain digital asset libraries
Provide support for internal and external events including planning, materials, and on-site presence
Engage with the public, media, and community partners to promote brand awareness
Ensure brand consistency and usability across all communications and design materials
Collaborate with internal teams to gather information for content development
Manage production timelines, printing estimates, and vendor coordination for communications materials
Monitor social media accounts, recommending content strategies as needed
Research industry trends and best practices in communications and marketing
Assist with marketing project coordination, file organization, and task tracking
Travel occasionally to support events and outreach initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
The intern will be responsible for completing all tasks outlined in their summer project plans assigned by managers. Interns must participate in all mandatory internship programming, evaluation periods and professional development sessions. Attending sessions remotely will be determined and approved by program manager

Required

Bachelor's degree in communications, video production, media studies, public relations, business management, journalism, graphic design, or a related field
Experience in content creation, public relations, marketing, or digital media
Proficiency in written and verbal communication
Experience with social media platforms
Strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively
Valid driver's license and insurability under company policy
Ability to lift and move up to 25 lbs and operate multimedia equipment

Benefits

Full time paid internship
Intern employees are categorized as seasonal full-time employees and will accrue one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked. Accrual begins after 80 hours of consecutive employment in Nebraska.
Lodging, transportation, and other travel expenses are provided.
