Responsibilities

Completes the final accounting for projects involving local and/or federal funds
Monitors the status of contracts to ensure that KDOT is closing contracts and projects in a timely manner. This requires preparing and reviewing reports on contract data
Reads and researches specific agreements between KDOT and various entities, analyzes the data, and assigns proper Department of Administration and KDOT financial coding for each agreement to ensure the expenditures are charged to the correct budget
Prepares final payment vouchers to vendors based on KDOT audit certification, including evaluating transactions, agreements, and audit documents to ensure accurate final payments
Performs other related duties as assigned, including participating in cross training to back up other positions within the Bureau

Required

Two years of experience in professional accounting/auditing work
Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency. Transcripts are required for education to be considered
Kansas Tax Clearance Certificate required in accordance with Executive Order 2004-03. Each applicant (even non-residents) who is selected for a State of Kansas job vacancy must apply for a Tax Clearance Certificate within 10 days from the date of the offer letter

Preferred

Personal computer experience
Knowledge of office procedures, practices, and equipment
Ability to plan, organize, and effectively manage an agency accounting task
