USDA-ARS Nutritional Immunology Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education is offering a postdoctoral fellowship opportunity with the USDA Agricultural Research Service. Responsibilities

Investigate lipid profiles and lipid mediator production in peripheral immune cells from human subjects
Collaborate with Dr. Snodgrass to help develop an appropriate IRB-approved protocol to recruit human subjects-of-interest from Davis and/or the surrounding areas
Sort and collect peripheral cells using the Sony MA-900 Cell Sorter
Analyze and/or manipulate collected cells ex vivo and quantify lipid profiles and lipid mediator production using standardized and validated methods
Incorporate additional techniques such as multi-color flow cytometry, RNA-sequencing, and ELISA as needed
Learn and receive training in nutritional and clinical immunology
Gain experience isolating and analyzing peripheral immune cells from human subjects using flow cytometry and cell sorting techniques
Quantify various cell-derived lipids and proteins following ex vivo manipulation
Collaborate with other scientists as opportunities arise

Required

Currently pursuing or have received a doctoral degree in one of the relevant fields
Degree must have been received within the past four years, or is currently pursuing
