Senior Manager, Corporate Risk Management

Responsibilities
Monitor, trend and analyze risk management team concerns and identify strategies to reduce the risk and improve overall team performance and continuity in conjunction with the Sr. Director of Risk Management
Serves as a resource to team members on clinical operations
Identify state, federal and UPMC Health System policies and procedures that impact professional liability issues
Be familiar with the operations and business needs of the System's risk management programs
Enhanced coordination of risk management activities in and among stakeholder and team members
Identify risk producing events and adopt risk reduction policies and procedures
Serve to assist, monitor, and verify the implementation of the various risk management action items adopted by the Sr. Director following meetings, investigation, and review of documentation and/or on-site reviews
Direct the assessment of needs related to medical products and equipment failures
Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement Initiatives within the UPMC Health System
Represents Corporate Risk Management in various multi-disciplinary team meetings
Qualification
Required
Minimum of eight years clinical experience
Knowledge of and experience with current medical and treatment approaches, The Joint Commission and Department of Health standards, Federal and State regulations relative to utilization management, case management, discharge planning, community resources/eligibility criteria, Medicare, Medicaid, and various other third-party payer requirements and managed care is required
The ability to use expert clinical practice, leadership skills, and critical thinking skills to efficiently coordinate and direct patient care among all health care providers while maximizing use of resources is required
The ability to prepare and critically analyze data, make appropriate recommendations toward resolution, and follow-through of identified action is required
Demonstrates a comprehensive familiarity with UPMC System Wide Policies, specifically as they relate to risk and liability
Preferred
Master's degree with a concentration in healthcare/Nursing Leadership preferred
