Procurement Manager
Catelli Brothers Family of Foods is seeking a Procurement Manager to oversee procurement, logistics, and inventory management of meat products. The role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with import documentation, and supporting the sales team with market insights.
Responsibilities
Develop and execute purchasing forecasts by analyzing historical usage, sales promotions, and market trends
Collaborate with inventory controllers to maintain optimal stock levels by implementing minimum and maximum thresholds for imported products
Anticipate forward sales requirements to ensure seamless inventory availability and visibility of forward volume
Stay updated on market dynamics through platforms such as Urner Barry and other industry resources
Monitor developments in the meat industry, including logistics and market conditions in the U.S. and internationally
Represent Catelli Brothers at key industry conferences, including MICA, to build market insights and professional networks
Oversee import documentation to meet all compliance requirements for SQF audits
Stay ahead of documents expiring by working closely with Catelli QA
Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure timely updates of certifications and other critical documents
The candidate will be responsible for sourcing products from domestic packers, distributors, and, when necessary, other importers to ensure a reliable and competitive supply chain
Collaborate with Retail and Foodservice teams to provide accurate and timely supply chain insights
Generate and distribute weekly market reports summarizing lamb and beef import trends, supply challenges, and relevant market intelligence
Serve as a key liaison between purchasing and sales to align operational objectives
Develop and nurture long-term partnerships with suppliers in Australia, New Zealand, and South America
Work closely with suppliers to build out sustainable procurement programs and ensure clear, consistent communication on shipment forecasts
Ensure timely customs clearance of shipments and resolve any import challenges
Oversee and support the import documentation process, coordinating with relevant team members to ensure accuracy
Working with production team to communicate incoming arrivals so they can implement a production plan
Prepare and distribute essential paperwork (e.g., Certificates of Analysis, Health Certificates, rejection documents) to the plant prior to delivery
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or procurement, in the meat industry required
Experience with inventory management systems and forecasting tools
Strong knowledge of import/export regulations, logistics, and compliance standards
Proficiency in market analysis tools and platforms (e.g., Urner Barry) and a solid understanding of industry trends
Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills, with a proven ability to manage complex documentation and timelines
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute supply chain strategies aligned with business goals
Strong communication and negotiation skills for effective collaboration with suppliers and internal teams
Familiarity with SQF standards and audit requirements is a significant advantage
High proficiency with Excel and ability to effectively interact with ERP system
Basic Reading, Writing and Math skills
Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Job requires workers to lift to 60 lbs. must be able to: step, climb, balance, squat, kneel, bend and reach above shoulders as needed
Work in a cold refrigerated environment
Preferred
Experience in the meat industry
Advanced degree preferred
Expertise in international procurement, particularly within Australia, New Zealand, and South America
