FirstSteps for Kids is dedicated to providing evidence-based behavior analytic treatment for children with autism and related learning differences. The Behavior Technician role involves teaching meaningful skills to children, working closely with a collaborative team, and receiving training to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT).

Responsibilities

Teaching children diagnosed with autism meaningful skills including communication, socialization, self-care, and school readiness

Working closely with and learning from teachers, parents, FirstSteps BCBAs, and behavioral health/mental health specialists

Becoming a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) with all initial credentialing fees paid by FirstSteps in conjunction with our paid training program

Have some 'Kid' Experience: We look for 'kid people' and related work, study, or volunteer experience demonstrating an interest in child development and commitment to the care and well-being of all children

Completed Education: College enrollment or degree preferred

We will consider your application with proof of high school graduation and an interest in psychology / behavioral health / child development / mental health

Health & Safety Requirements: Childhood vaccinations and non-reactive TB test

Reliable transportation

Ability to lift 50 lbs, sit on floors and/or child-sized furniture, and quickly move from a seated position to running stance

Graduate students in ABA may apply as Behavior Technicians and be eligible to receive clinical training and supervision hours toward BACB requirements, based on performance, role alignment, availability, and program needs
