Responsibilities
Maintaining, repairing, calibrating, tuning, and adjusting electronic equipment used for:
External Communications: Handling systems that send and receive messages, including high-frequency (HF), very high-frequency (VHF), and ultra-high-frequency (UHF) radio and satellite communications
Systems Maintenance: Performing organizational level maintenance on external communications systems and associated equipment, including antennas and ancillary gear
Troubleshooting: Using schematics, diagrams, and testing equipment to diagnose and isolate malfunctions in complex electronic components and systems
Installation: Installing and inspecting various communication circuits, equipment racks, and associated cabling, sometimes involving fiber optics and soldering
Qualification
Required
Minimum of 5 years of electronic maintenance, repair or installation work
Must have a proficiency using basic hand and power tool
Must be flexible enough for periodic travel and stay overnight when required
Must be able to pass security clearance check as some access to secure locations may be necessary
Must be able to lift packages weighing up to 70 lbs
Must be able to pass a criminal background check, drug test and have a clean driver's record
