Howard County Government is seeking a Community Outreach and Teen Leader to support the Recreation Services Supervisor in community outreach and teen programs. The role involves planning events, maintaining relationships with partners, and providing leadership in camp programs.

Responsibilities

Maintaining a calendar of outreach activities, including community events, workshops, appearances, and other communication opportunities
Assist with the planning and implementing of county wide middle school & high school leisure classes
Nurture new and existing relationships with collaborative partners
Provide direct leadership to camp or class programs
Assist in marketing programs
Maintain accurate inventory and deliver program supplies and materials
Market, assist with registration and track attendance
Must be able to complete County van driving training and operate a County van
Must be able to transport supplies from warehouse to program sites, distribute fliers and materials, and move/lift up to 50 pounds
Perform other duties as assigned by the Recreation Manager
Includes evening and weekend hours

Required

Must be at least 18 years old
Coursework in education, recreation, sports management, child psychology or related studies
Must be able to complete County van driving training and operate a County van
Must be able to transport supplies from warehouse to program sites, distribute fliers and materials, and move/lift up to 50 pounds
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
Ability to write simple correspondence
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
Valid Class C driver's license along with a copy of driving record

Preferred

Strong knowledge of recreation programming and the ability to multi-task
Communicate well verbally and in a written manner
Knowledge of overall program policies and procedures
Possess strong organizational and computer skills in Word, Excel and Publisher
Possess excellent public relations skills
Bilingual Preferred
