IT Specialist (INFOSEC)
DLA Careers is seeking an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) to handle the analysis and configuration of IT security logs across various operating systems. The role involves investigating cybersecurity events and providing guidance on the proper configuration of information system logs.

Responsibilities
Conducts analysis, interpretation and configuration of IT security logs from multiple diverse operating system (including but not limited to: Unix, Linux, Windows, etc.) and platform logs
Investigates cybersecurity events to determine the possible impact on the IS and the DLA enterprise
Using cybersecurity tools and innovative, undefined methodologies, the incumbent independently analyzes the complex, system generated log information to determine if a possible security event has been generated
Provides expert guidance to system, database and application administrators on the proper configuration of the Information System (IS) logs
Responsible for DLA security log policy and program, directing and advising IT subject matter experts on the configuration of component logging

Security Requirements: Non-Critical Sensitive, Secret Access
Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, where reciprocity cannot be applied; unfavorably adjudicated background checks will be grounds for removal

Selective Service Requirement: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service

Selectees are required to have a REAL ID or other acceptable identification documents to access certain federal facilities
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and is directly in or related to this position
To qualify at the GS-13 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military or private sector
Applicants must meet eligibility requirements including time-in-grade (General Schedule (GS) positions only), time-after-competitive appointment, minimum qualifications, and any other regulatory requirements by the cut-off/closing date of the announcement
Creditable specialized experience includes: Apply comprehensive technical knowledge of a wide range of information technology platforms and cybersecurity threats, risks and vulnerabilities to interpret the information to determine if a cybersecurity event has occurred
Monitors the Information Systems component logs to ensure they are operating and collecting logs
Reports suspected cybersecurity events and anomalies for corrective action
