BUSINESS TAXES SPECIALIST I, BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA) is seeking a Business Taxes Specialist I to perform complex tax compliance and collection work. This role involves leadership responsibilities, including reviewing cases and providing guidance to staff, as well as developing training materials and preparing responses to tax law issues.

Responsibilities
Independently performs the most complex, difficult, and sensitive tax compliance and collection work
Acts in a leadership capacity performing monthly reviews of aged revocation and collection cases, providing guidance to staff and evaluating needs for training
Performs review of assignments through the Centralized Revenue Opportunity System (CROS) Assignment Control
May be able to assign tasks and approve assignments
Develops, revises, or maintains training course materials
Prepares replies to issues of tax law and compliance function policies and procedures and serves on special project committees
Exercises a high degree of independence and responsibility in these activities
Travel may be required up to ten percent (10%) of the time, which may include overnight
Qualification
Required

Position requires employee to be fingerprinted and successfully pass a background investigation
Travel is required ten percent (10%) of the time
Position may require overnight travel for up to one or more consecutive nights to meet training requirements
Have a permanent civil service appointment with CDTFA, or
Are current or former employees of the legislature for 2 or more years as defined in Government Code 18990, or
Are current or former non-elected exempt employees of the executive branch for 2 or more consecutive years as defined in Govt. Code 18992, or
Are persons retired from the United States military honorably discharged from active duty with a service disability or honorably discharged from active duty as defined in Government Code 18991. Applicants must provide a copy of discharge papers (DD 214) for verification purposes at the time of application
