The Battery Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and validating high-voltage battery modules and subassemblies for next-generation power systems, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities
Assemble high-voltage battery modules, packs, busbars, and cooling components per engineering specifications and work instructions
Perform precision mechanical assembly (torque tools, crimping, fastening, gasket placement, insulation materials)
Complete electrical wiring, cable routing, terminations, and connector installations
Install BMS (Battery Management System) sensors, boards, harnesses, and communication lines
Conduct in-process and final quality checks to ensure conformance to specifications
Follow strict high-voltage (HV) safety protocols, LOTO procedures, PPE requirements, and safe-workspace standards
Inspect HV components for proper insulation, interlocks, grounding, and continuity
Document any hazards or unsafe conditions and support corrective actions
Support battery module testing including insulation resistance tests, Hi-Pot testing, continuity checks, leak tests (cooling circuits), and initial charge cycles
Operate basic diagnostic tools (multimeters, torque analyzers, thermal cameras, CAN tools)
Record test data, compare results against acceptance criteria, and escalate anomalies
Follow standardized work, job travelers, control plans, and assembly procedures
Complete build documentation: traceability logs, serial number tracking, quality checklists, and issue tags
Support Engineering Change Orders (ECO), build trials, and pilot production experiments
Provide feedback for improving assembly methods, tooling, and quality controls
Maintain assembly hand & power tools, laser welder, crimpers, HV PPE, workstations, and calibration requirements
Safely move and stage battery materials, modules, and completed packs
Monitor component availability and report shortages or quality issues with incoming parts
Qualification
Required
2+ years of experience in battery assembly, EV/energy storage, aerospace electronics, or other precision electromechanical assembly environments
Strong understanding of mechanical assembly, electrical wiring, torque specifications, and quality inspection practices
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and work instructions
Hands-on experience using multimeters, basic HV tools, crimpers, laser welders, torque tools, and leak-test or electrical test equipment
Comfortable working around high-voltage systems (training provided)
Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation
Preferred
Experience with high-voltage battery packs (EV, ESS, hybrid systems)
Experience with laser welding
Experience in pilot-production or R&D build environments
Certification in IPC/WHMA-A-620 (cable & harness assembly)
Certification in High-Voltage Safety Levels 1–3
Certification in ESD training
Familiarity with Lean, 5S, and quality methodologies
Experience working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and test teams
