Part Time Research
Long Island University is seeking a motivated part-time Research Assistant with hands-on experience in fundamental cell and molecular biology techniques. The role involves performing various laboratory tasks including mammalian cell culture, qPCR experiments, and functional assays in a BSL-2 laboratory environment.

Responsibilities
Perform mammalian cell culture (maintenance, passaging, seeding, and sample preparation)
Conduct qPCR experiments, including RNA extraction, cDNA synthesis, and data analysis
Run SDS-PAGE and assist with downstream protein analysis as needed
Carry out functional assays using commercially available kits
Assist with flow cytometry sample preparation, staining, acquisition, and basic data handling
Perform Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) sample preparation and imaging
Conduct bacterial infection assays and any general bacterial work (e.g., culturing, plating, characterization, or sample preparation)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biology, Microbiology, or related discipline)
Strong attention to detail, ability to follow protocols, and capability to work independently
