Systems Technician
Modumetal, Inc. is seeking a Systems Technician to provide hands-on support for industrial systems and automation hardware. The role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-site support, requiring both technical skills and the ability to travel internationally.

Responsibilities
Assist with installation, wiring, and verification of control panels, sensors, connectors, and field devices
Support NanoPro® 5.0 system assembly, testing, deployment, and maintenance under direction
Perform basic system checks, including power verification, I/O validation, signal continuity, and component replacement
Assist with line retrofit preparation, including physical layout, mounting, cable routing, labeling, and cleanup
Perform hands-on technical and “handyman” work related to systems and equipment (mounting enclosures, brackets, guards, conduit, and cable trays)
Assist with minor mechanical and electrical modifications under supervision
Support on-site coordination with subcontractors during equipment installs or line modifications
Regularly inspecting tanks for leaks, cracks, or corrosion, and making plumbing or fitting changes
Maintaining the DC power supplies (rectifiers) that provide the current for plating. This includes cleaning cooling fans, tightening bus bar connections to reduce resistance, and calibrating voltage and current outputs
Changing filter cartridges and servicing pumps to ensure the plating bath remains free of particulates that cause roughness or pitting
Maintaining immersion heaters and heat exchangers to keep bath temperatures within narrow tolerances
Servicing hoists, cranes,and tooling that move parts through the chemical sequence
Cleaning and replacing metal anodes
Inspecting and cleaning "scrubbers" and exhaust hoods to ensure toxic fumes are safely removed from the work area
Maintaining the pumps and sensors used to neutralize and filter effluent before it is discharged
Inspecting secondary containment areas and ensuring safety showers/eyewash stations are functional
Ensuring all tools used for maintenance are chemically compatible and that safety gear is in good repair
Travel domestically and internationally to support system installations, retrofits, and troubleshooting activities
Assist during on-site troubleshooting by gathering measurements, photos, logs, and observations
Execute defined corrective actions under guidance and escalate issues as required
Maintain wiring diagrams, system layouts, installation photos, and part lists
Learn and follow standard procedures to provide backup coverage when the Systems Manager is unavailable
Ensure systems are left in a clean, labeled, and documented state after work is completed
Support licensee and customer site visits professionally and safely
Assist with sample runs, system validation, and post-install verification during retrofits
Qualification
Required
Associate degree: A 2-year degree in Materials Science or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred
Vocational/Technical Training: A certificate or technical diploma in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or Electromechanical Technology
1–3 years in an industrial technician, maintenance technician, automation technician assistant, or similar role
Demonstrated ability to read basic electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, including the ability to interpret mechanical schematics and plumbing layouts for large plating tanks and ventilation systems
Ability to understand plumbing, pumps, transfer rates, etc
Proficient with hand tools, multimeter, and basic power tools
General proficiency with basic computer systems
Mechanically inclined with strong hands-on problem-solving ability
Comfortable working in manufacturing and industrial environments
International travel is a required part of the position
Preferred
Experience with control panels, industrial equipment, or automation hardware preferred
Working knowledge of the electroplating process
