Tax Coordinator (Seasonal)

The MinKwon Center for Community Action is seeking an experienced tax preparer to serve as a Tax Coordinator. This position will work directly with low- and moderate-income community members to file tax returns, and review returns prepared by staff and volunteers.

Responsibilities

Ensure intakes are prepared accurately and completely; verify client documents and tax information
Screen clients for eligibility for VITA services and make appointments
Prepare accurate tax returns at the Advanced certification level
Conduct accurate quality reviews of tax returns; confirm returns are prepared within the scope of the VITA program and the preparer’s certification
Provide on-site tax expertise; answer client and volunteers’ questions, and provide assistance as necessary
Ensure all documents are returned and a copy of the completed return provided to the client
Provide operational support to the Tax Site Coordinator
Maintain confidentiality of client information and uphold IRS standards of conduct

Required

English and Korean proficiency are required
At least 1-2 years of income tax preparation experience
Must successfully complete IRS Link & Learn certification at the Advanced Level
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Detail-oriented, excellent time management skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work weekends

Preferred

VITA program experience highly preferred
Familiarity with TaxSlayer software preferred
Experience with customer service highly preferred
