PROGRAM DIRECTOR (DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES-SAFETY)
The California Department of Developmental Services is responsible for providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities. The Program Director will oversee the planning, development, and evaluation of staff work in a secured treatment program, ensuring safety and compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, developing, supervising, and evaluating the work of staff serving individuals who reside in a secured treatment program (STP)
Direct the activities of a multi-disciplinary treatment staff in achieving program and facility goals and individual objectives
Monitor the educational and technical occupational programs in Central Program Services (CPS)
Participate in the planning, development, and implementation of major components of educational and technical occupational programs
Assist in evaluating services to individuals
Develop appropriate staffing patterns
Serve as a resource on equipment, techniques, and current practices in the field
Develop training and development plans for staff members
Establish service priorities
Assist in developing and providing liaisons with appropriate community agencies
Direct the program to include safety and security of individuals with intellectual disabilities, staff, visitors, and the public
Available to respond to facility needs seven days a week, with twenty-four hour a day responsibility
Ensure individual, staff, and public safety through various security measures
Inspect the facility and training sites to identify and address potential security vulnerabilities
Observe individual behaviors, intervening as necessary to prevent harm to individuals or property
Ensure that all safety protocols are consistently upheld
Participate in meetings, workgroups, and conferences
Effective use of equipment for report writing and data collection
Qualification
Required
Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained within this duty statement
Ability to respond during various shifts when called upon
Ongoing responsibility for the protection and safeguarding individuals, staff, visitors, public, and property
Must be available to respond to the facility needs seven days a week, with twenty-four hour a day responsibility
Experience in planning, developing, supervising, and evaluating the work of staff serving individuals with developmental disabilities
Knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), The Rehabilitation Act of 1973, The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the California Education Codes (CEC), and the California Code of Regulations (CCR)
Experience in evaluating services to individuals and developing appropriate staffing patterns
Ability to develop training and development plans for staff members
Experience in establishing service priorities and providing liaisons with appropriate community agencies
Ability to monitor educational and technical occupational programs
