Application Engineer
NDT Systems, Inc. designs and manufactures advanced ultrasonic testing equipment for the non-destructive testing marketplace. The Application Engineer provides expert-level technical support for NDT instruments, acting as a liaison to sales, engineering, and production teams while ensuring high-quality customer assistance throughout the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Support Sales Managers in developing and closing sales opportunities
Serve as a technical liaison between customers and the sales team to support sales efforts and contribute to achieving annual sales targets
Conduct on-site and remote customer demonstrations, product evaluations, and equipment training sessions
Provide support at tradeshows, conferences, and technical events
Deliver after-sales support, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and customer follow-up
Utilize the CRM system effectively for managing sales activities, customer interactions, and after-sales support documentation
Maintain a strong understanding of related Nova Instruments technologies (e.g., Phased Array UT, Laser Shearography) to support cross-product inquiries
Assist customers and distributors with product installation, configuration, optimization, and recommended NDT application practices
Collect market intelligence, including customer feedback, competitive insights, and emerging industry trends
Collaborate closely with engineering and R&D teams by providing structured customer feedback to support product enhancements and new feature development
Increase product visibility through participation in field activities such as ASNT and AWS chapter presentations
Support distributors by participating in customer visits, regional events, and joint product demonstrations
Conduct customer and distributor training sessions, both in person and online, covering system operation, calibration, application techniques, and general maintenance
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in NDT, engineering technology, or a related technical field; relevant military experience is also acceptable
5+ years of field experience in nondestructive testing, technical service, or related industrial applications
Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities with proficiency in diagnosing issues within complex electromechanical systems
Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to customers and internal teams
Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple support cases and priorities simultaneously
Customer-focused mindset with strong technical curiosity and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Ability to travel up to 35% as required
Preferred
Strong familiarity with ultrasonic nondestructive testing (UT) systems, including flaw detection and thickness measurement
Experience or working knowledge of laser shearography systems
Knowledge of industry standards such as ASNT, NADCAP, NAS, and applicable military specifications
Hands-on experience with transducer setup, calibration procedures, or acoustic signal analysis
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications; familiarity with CRM and service management platforms
