Organ Recovery Coordinator I - Night Shift
Life Connection of Ohio is dedicated to organ donation and recovery. They are seeking an Organ Recovery Coordinator I who will evaluate potential organ donors, coordinate donation activities, and serve as a clinical resource to maximize donation opportunities.

Responsibilities
Maintains the highest standards of professional conduct and interpersonal relationship development; promoting a positive and collaborative work environment
Responds to initial organ donor referrals and follows up on referred patients when on shift
Completes referral evaluations for the purpose of determining organ and tissue donor suitability based on LCO, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), OPTN/UNOS, Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and recommendations
Demonstrates an understanding of the legal and hospital requirements for death declaration and organ donation
Identifies the patients legal next-of-kin in accordance with state and Uniform Anatomical Gift Act (UAGA) statutes
Assesses family dynamics, availability of hospital support system, and family needs (e.g., cultural, religious, emotional, informational.)
Clinically manages the organ donor per LCO protocols and under direction of the Medical Director or AOC, allocates organ(s) in accordance with LCO and OPTN/UNOS policy, facilitates recovery and preservation of organs in the O.R, and completes all related documentation per standards
Identifies organ- and tissue-specific and behavioral risk factors in accordance with LCO and regulatory guidelines
Knowledgeable of the pathophysiological sequalae of brain death and endeavors to physiologically manage the donor to achieve optimal organ function within the parameters defined by the associated protocols under the guidance of the AOC, Physician Consultants, and Medical Director
Collaborates with hospital staff to evaluate and physiologically manage the donor to achieve optimal organ function
Understands and complies with procedural aspects and requirements of blood, culture and typing specimen collection and labeling
Reviews and documents required information within the donor record, including labs, diagnostics, and procedural records
Coordinates transportation and logistics of organs, blood, tissue typing materials, and recovery teams
Coordinates interdepartmental processes, including post-recovery communication
Complies with LCO and OPTN/UNOS policies regarding documentation, maintenance, and confidentiality of records
Performs quality control on donor records; assists with quality improvement and Recovery Department projects, and performs other duties as required

Evaluates the medical eligibility of potential organ donor referrals and organ imports
Facilitates or coordinates organ donation activities including comprehensive medical management of the donor
Assists with organizational quality improvement projects
Serves as a clinical resource for Hospital Services and Family Services to maximize donation opportunities
