Controller
LHH is proactively building a pipeline of experienced Interim Controllers for upcoming engagements with mid-sized organizations in the Parsippany, NJ area. The role involves overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and improving processes while leading accounting staff during transitional periods.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close
Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP
Lead and mentor accounting staff during periods of transition or growth
Support audits, reviews, and external partner relationships
Improve processes, controls, and documentation
Partner with senior leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
Assist with system implementations, clean-ups, or post-acquisition integrations as needed
Qualification
Required
8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
Prior Controller or Assistant Controller experience (interim/consulting experience a plus)
Strong GAAP knowledge and hands-on leadership style
Experience in fast-paced or transitional environments (turnarounds, M&A, system changes)
Advanced Excel skills; ERP experience (NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, etc.)
Preferred
CPA preferred but not required
