Instructional Designer, Training Curriculum Development

Our client, GSRINC, is seeking an Instructional Designer to develop and design technical training materials for adult learners in the utilities industry. The role involves applying instructional design methodologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create effective training solutions.

Responsibilities

Primary designer and developer for instructor-led, web-based, and on-the-job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry
Leverage and apply established instructional design methodologies to assess stakeholder needs, analyze complex content, and evaluate delivered training
Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media
Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed
Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize training design and content
Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment
Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates
Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience
Lead milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train the trainer
Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation
Receive and incorporate feedback
Self-manage assigned tasks and deadlines to complete deliverables
Proactively communicate issues and risks

Required

Proven experience designing and developing technical training for adult learners
Strong ability to perform detailed task analysis and apply instructional design methodologies
Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality training materials on time
3+ years experience developing instructor-led training and on-the-job tasks for technical skills
3+ years of experience with Storyline, QuestionMark and Author-It
Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design and methodologies
Proven experience performing task analysis
Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams
Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed
Experience developing technical training for adult learners
Work Samples/Portfolio
A portfolio/work samples must be provided for consideration

Preferred

Technical writing experience a plus
Utility experience a plus
