EHRA Engineering is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role will support the firm’s general accounting functions with a focus on project accounting, working closely with project managers and engineers to ensure accurate financial tracking and compliance with accounting standards.

Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjustments

Reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements

Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes

Support preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecasts

Maintain compliance with GAAP and company policies

Set up and maintain project cost codes in the accounting system

Track project revenues, costs, labor hours, and budgets against forecasts

Review project contracts and ensure compliance with billing terms

Prepare and process progress billings, time & expense invoices, and retainage releases

Monitor work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and provide variance analysis

Collaborate with project managers to resolve billing, reporting, and budget discrepancies

Assist with external audits and tax preparation as needed

Support payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable as required

Contribute to process improvements in accounting and project reporting

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

1–3 years of accounting experience (experience in engineering, construction, or professional services preferred)

Strong understanding of GAAP and project-based accounting principles

Proficiency with accounting/project management software (Deltek Vision, Ajera, BST, or similar preferred)

Intermediate to advanced Excel skills

Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and organizational skills

Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with project teams

Preferred
