Financial Controller
Nickerson Talent Solutions is actively hiring a Financial Controller for a premier aerospace and defense client—an exciting opportunity to lead financial strategy in a highly regulated, cutting-edge environment. The Controller will oversee financial management, ensuring accuracy in operations and reporting while developing financial strategies and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
Oversee all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and auditing
Manage the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, GAAP, and other relevant accounting standards
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
Coordinate and lead financial audits, ensuring compliance with internal controls and external requirements
Develop and implement financial strategies and policies to support company objectives and growth
Manage cash flow, working capital, and financial risk, including developing strategies to optimize liquidity and profitability
Supervise and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performance environment and providing professional development opportunities
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and procurement, to align financial goals with business strategies
Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership to support decision-making and strategic planning
Monitor and enforce compliance with government contracts and regulations, particularly those related to defense and aerospace manufacturing
Implement and maintain robust accounting software systems (SAP experience is a plus), ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting
Present financials to the Board of Directors
Qualification
Required
CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
A minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting and finance, with a focus on defense/aerospace manufacturing or related industries
Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance within the aerospace and defense sectors
Strong leadership and team management skills
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with senior leadership and other departments
Experience with government contracting and compliance (FARS, DFARS, CAS, etc.)
Preferred
MBA (Master of Business Administration)
In-depth experience with SAP or similar ERP systems
