The Administrative Assistant will provide support to the District Attorney's Office through handling public inquiries, preparing legal documents, and assisting crime victims, among other responsibilities.

Government Administration

Responsibilities

Responds to incoming telephone calls and in-person requests from the public, County employees, attorneys, and staff members, provides assistance and/or directs to the appropriate person
Prepares and maintains legal documents, files, and legal research items including docket preparation
Prepares legal paperwork for court proceedings; takes statements of victims when assigned; Inputs cases and related data to computer and prepares reports from same data; Monitors database information system
Serves as Notary Public
Assists and instructs other employees with their duties; assigns, plans and reviews work of others
Provides direct assistance to crime victims on telephone, in person and by mail; processes outgoing and incoming Victim Impact Statements and Crime Loss Forms
Maintains calendaring system for court notification and mails out the notifications
Assists prosecutors in meetings with victims and witnesses. Make travel arrangements for witnesses and processes Witness Fee Claim Forms; assists victims with Crime Victims Compensation applications and claims
Participates in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate county managers

Required

High school diploma/GED
3 years job related experience
Strong computer and typing skills (minimum 40 wpm). Must have knowledge of Word and Microsoft Office
Strong verbal skills and ability to interact effectively with other employees and the public
