Freight Forwarding Sales Account Executive
CS Recruiting is seeking a Freight Forwarding Sales Account Executive to drive new business in freight forwarding, fulfillment, and logistics services. The role involves sourcing and closing deals, managing client relationships, and collaborating with internal teams to ensure exceptional service delivery.
Responsibilities
Source, pitch, and close new business across freight forwarding, fulfillment, and logistics services
Prospect daily via phone, email, LinkedIn, referrals, and trade shows
Understand customer pain points and tailor solutions around the company’s strengths
Track opportunities in CRM and build a growing book of business
Collaborate with ops, pricing, and leadership to deliver best-in-class service to new customers
Start by driving financial performance, focusing on increasing gross profit margins and revenue
Monitor financial metrics and KPIs closely, making necessary adjustments to meet targets, which will become even more critical as the team grows
Develop and manage budgets from the outset, ensuring cost-effective operations—this responsibility will be increasingly vital as you scale and lead the branch
Partner with operations and pricing teams to ensure a smooth onboarding process for new accounts
Help develop and communicate customer-specific SOPs to ensure operational alignment and service expectations
Maintain accurate client data, contact info, and quoting history in CRM and internal systems
As your team grows, manage and mentor your workforce, creating a positive and productive work environment that drives continued success
Stay informed on market trends (freight rates, surcharges, capacity changes) and communicate relevant updates to clients
Monitor key bookings and shipments during early phases of customer launch to ensure smooth execution
Provide proactive follow-up and support to resolve any service issues, delays, or escalations
Research new prospects, compile background information, and prepare account insights to support sales outreach
Qualification
Required
1+ years of B2B sales experience is required
1+ years of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain roles
Proven ability to prospect, generate leads, and close new business
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to travel for customer meetings, site visits, or events as needed
Confident and persuasive verbal and written skills for engaging prospects and building relationships
Motivated by goals, quotas, and the thrill of winning new business
Open to feedback, always looking to improve sales approach and industry knowledge
Able to manage pipeline, track outreach, and follow up consistently
Solutions-oriented approach when handling objections and coordinating with internal teams
Works well across sales, operations, and leadership teams to deliver a strong customer experience
Always focus on understanding the client's pain points and creating value
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Experience with CRM platforms for tracking pipeline and activity
Comfortable working with quoting tools, rate requests, and logistics platforms
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, International Trade, or a related subject is preferred
Experience in a fast-paced, customer-facing or sales support role is a bonus
Familiarity with CargoWise is a plus
Quick to learn new systems, tools, and internal processes to support sales effectiveness
