Senior Accountant
Lac du Flambeau Business Development Corporation is seeking a Senior Accountant responsible for managing the general ledger and performing all financial activities related to financial reporting and analysis. The role involves ensuring compliance, auditing financial documents, managing inventory and fixed assets, and identifying process improvements within the accounting function.
Responsibilities
Conduct monthly and quarterly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance
Reconcile balance sheet accounts and assist with journal entry preparation
Assist with the preparation and distribution of financial reports, budget comparison reports, and bank reconciliations
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variations, and deviations; investigate and report findings to the Accounting Supervisor
Audit and verify financial documents to ensure accuracy and compliance
Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
Assist in financial audit preparation and coordination
Ensure compliance with all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
Lead and maintain accurate inventory records
Monitor inventory transactions for accuracy and completeness
Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure optimal inventory levels
Manage the fixed asset lifecycle, including acquisition, depreciation, and disposal
Maintain accurate fixed asset records and perform regular reconciliations
Prepare reports related to fixed assets for management and external stakeholders
Document Senior Accountant procedures and maintain internal accounting standards
Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency within the accounting function
Contribute to department and organization on special projects as assigned
Qualification
Required
Associate degree in accounting or related field
3 years of experience in an accounting role
Combination of education and experience considered in lieu of requirements
Possess superior written and verbal communication skills
Possess effective time-management and organization skills
Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and self-directed
Ability to operate calmly in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work well under pressure
Ability to navigate multiple computer software programs and applications
Ability to work and collaborate in a team environment
Perform all duties with acute attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate through various methods, such as e-mail, written documentation and telephone
Maintain a high level of confidentiality
Ability to solve problems independently
