New GradAmerican Leather is offering a 6 Week PAID program for those looking to become expert sewers. Under the guidance of a Lead and Trainer, participants will learn to operate industrial sewing machines and perform various sewing tasks in a production environment.

Responsibilities
Sews precut fabric or leather according to sewing diagram
Single needle and top stitch sewing as required
Sew welt cord or tubing as required by style
Reads traveler for correct law label, thread and zipper color
Uses zipper machine as required by style
Skives the leather with the leather skiver as needed per style
Changes needles on the machine to match the type of cover they are using
Adjusts their seam allowance according to traveler instructions on the cover material
Changes thread and bobbins according to traveler instructions on the cover material
Adjusts tension as needed
Reports any problems or issues to supervisor
Inspects the quality of their own work
Trains with a product development representative on new styles (Betas) and reports
Qualification
Required
Ability to operate an industrial/commercial sewing machine
Adherence to established safety guidelines
Ability to sew precut fabric or leather according to sewing diagram
Ability to perform single needle and top stitch sewing as required
Ability to sew welt cord or tubing as required by style
Ability to read traveler for correct law label, thread and zipper color
Ability to use zipper machine as required by style
Ability to skive the leather with the leather skiver as needed per style
Ability to change needles on the machine to match the type of cover they are using
Ability to adjust seam allowance according to traveler instructions on the cover material
Ability to change thread and bobbins according to traveler instructions on the cover material
Ability to adjust tension as needed
Ability to report any problems or issues to supervisor
Ability to inspect the quality of their own work
Willingness to train with a product development representative on new styles (Betas) and report
