Project Director

Responsibilities

Providing overall strategies, leadership, and management of multiple, less complex regional or national projects from start to finish
Staffing, managing project budget, scheduling, quality control, problem resolution, job coordination and communication, job invoicing/payments and client satisfaction activities
Business development, job solicitation and project negotiations, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations
Partnering with senior leadership to create key functional strategies, critical objectives, and decisions affecting the business unit and functional work group
Conducting high-quality business development, creating key customer relationships, and performing job solicitation in the marketplace
Creating project execution strategies and directing all phases and activities of the project to achieve high quality and productivity in the work performed
Ensuring all construction contracts are fulfilled to the customer’s satisfaction and the Company has earned a fair profit
Planning, implementing, independently managing, and maintaining project activities to optimize the efficiency of labor, materials, supplies, equipment, and tools
Ensuring all plans and specifications identify project scope and milestones and share them with all appropriate parties
Providing frequent management oversight and problem resolution
Communicating directly with project team members, contractors, and designers concerning project costs, staffing, and scheduling
Managing timely and accurate project documents, estimates, projections, material release schedules, client information, purchase orders, monthly invoices, payments, closeout documents, warranties, drawings, specification logs, maintenance manuals, final billings, change orders, and other related documents related to construction projects
Building strategic and effective relationships with clients and future clients, foremen, project teams, specialty contractors, vendors, suppliers, user groups, and others that reflect and support the Company’s core values and meet or exceed the customer’s expectations
Providing regular and high-quality hiring, communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving, and training to staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed
Advising and coaching employees and providing performance feedback regularly
Creating and managing an annual financial budget and maintaining some level of responsibility for Companywide financials
Staying informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices
Establishing, training, and maintaining policies and processes

Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in project management, business administration, construction engineering/management, or a related field
7-8 years of project management and project leadership experience with projects of all sizes
Extensive project management training and skills
Thorough understanding of the project life cycle
Minimum 5 years of experience directly managing people
3-5 Years of experience with medium voltage with underground electrical installation
Previous field construction experience or equivalent (e.g., electrical, technologies, fire, etc.)
Keen knowledge of the managed business unit and the overall departmental function
Knowledge of and proficiency with construction methods and materials, costing, power, lighting, systems design and general industry safety standards, procedures, and regulations
Must have extensive knowledge of the electrical code
Skills to read, interpret, and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications
Experience and proficiency using Accubid software, Revit, CAD, SKM, AGI, Navisworks and/or BIM systems may be required
Extensive experience with value analysis in all market segments and in-depth trade knowledge
Strong conceptual estimating and problem-solving skills, and experience in reviewing estimates for accuracy and completeness
Previous experience with field installation is helpful
Excellent business analysis, quality management and mathematical skills
Skills to read and interpret financial documents
Trained and proficient in negotiating, budgeting, costing, contracting, scheduling, pricing, and common code requirements
