Responsibilities
Responsibility for body and exterior parts (molded plastic, painted/plated plastics, and steel parts, along with lighting components) as described in the Job Description
Assure supplier understanding and compliance with APQP processes and product PPAP submission and approval requirements
Review and approve supplier quality plans for new component parts and assemblies for new vehicle and or powertrain programs
Review supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
Implement and monitor supplier part qualification and certification processes
Determine root cause of supplier manufacturing problems and implementing timely, effective, and efficient quality resolutions
Improve quality performance of suppliers by conducting onsite workshops at supplier locations, providing technical assistance in developing a robust quality system, or other technical support as required
Provide technical assistance during supplier launch, change-over and ongoing production activities
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related technical field required
5-7 years of experience required
Strong knowledge of automotive interior, exterior, body, chassis, electrical or powertrain quality, manufacturing and engineering functions
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Manufacturing Quality processes
Knowledge of Manufacturing and Tool Engineering processes
Knowledge of Quality Systems Planning (APQP), including PPAP
Ability to perform statistical problem solving (Red X, DFSS, DMAIC)
Unique skillset with extensive experience and knowledge of the specific assigned commodity/product
Highly motivated with demonstrated leadership capability
Proficient in print reading and interpretation, part measurement, gage design and function
Knowledge of geometric design and tolerancing (GD&T)
Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly plant processes, procedures, tooling, equipment, and facilities
Knowledge of probability, statistical quality control and design of experiments
Ability to investigate quality problems and to apply sound technical judgment to develop potential solutions
Ability to manage multiple projects and lead diverse cross functional teams simultaneously
High level of interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to travel up to 50% (daily commutable and overnight combined)
Preferred
Master's degree in Business Administration or Engineering preferred
Technical and Quality Certifications preferred
Ideal if this person has experience SQMS
Ideal if they have SPPs(supplier practical problem solving system)
