Responsibilities

Create, edit and deliver accurate digital content and information to support external communications across Metrolink's digital platforms, ensuring content complies with brand guidelines, accessibility standards, and public-agency communication requirements
Develop and maintain social media content calendars aligned with marketing campaign objectives, service initiatives, and ridership goals
Create platform-native digital content, including short-form video optimized for social media platforms such as Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
Track and analyze social media performance metrics, including engagement, reach, video views, and contribute insights to improve content effectiveness
Collaborate with other department staff, marketing agencies, and external partner entities to provide content for the SCRRA's social media platforms. Support daily social media publishing activities and coordinate with the Communications Desk (Customer Relations) to ensure alignment with customer communication protocols
Monitor social media channels to identify content performance trends and potential issues, and coordinate with the Communications Desk to escalate items that may affect Metrolink service, safety, or public perception
Serve as a project manager for select marketing and social media campaign initiatives throughout the year, coordinating timelines, deliverables, and cross-departmental inputs to support successful execution
Support the planning and execution of paid digital campaigns through social media by providing creative assets and analyzing campaign performance to inform optimization efforts. Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with transit industry influencers, and stakeholders, including member agencies
Provide support during Level 3 incidents
Demonstrate enthusiasm for authentic storytelling around public transit and willingness to travel regionwide on Metrolink across our system

Required

Bachelor's Degree in English, Journalism, Marketing or related field
A minimum three (3) years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Social Media, including experience supporting digital content creation and customer-facing communications
A combination of training, education and or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered when determining minimum qualifications
Advanced relevant coursework may also substitute for a portion of required experience
Knowledge of social media platform algorithms, trends, and best practices
Knowledge of short-form video content performance and optimization
Knowledge of digital accessibility standards, including captions and alternative text
Knowledge of project management and coordination
Knowledge of principles of graphics and layout
Knowledge of SCRRA operations and transportation issues
Knowledge of political sensitivities
Knowledge of media relations
Skilled in short-form video editing using tools such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar software
Skilled in social media analytics and performance reporting
Skilled in content calendar planning and campaign coordination
Skilled in social media management platforms (e.g., Hootsuite or similar tools)
Skilled in Microsoft Office
Skilled in verbal and written communication
Skilled in organization and time management
Ability to organize work and handle multiple tasks and priorities
Ability to analyze performance data and apply insights to improve content and campaign outcomes
Ability to adapt content and priorities to emerging trends and time-sensitive needs
Ability to balance creative execution with public-agency requirements and operational considerations
Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships
Ability to maintain composure under stress
Physical ability to transition between a stationary position at a desk or work location and move about Metrolink facilities or other work site locations
Physical ability to operate tools to perform the duties of the position, such as computers, office equipment, and work-related machinery
Physical ability to transport equipment or boxes up to 25 lbs
Physical ability to exchange ideas by means of communication
Physical ability to have visual acuity to detect, identify and observe employees or train movement and any barriers to movement when working on or near railroad tracks
Physical ability to hear and perceive the nature of sounds when working on or near railroad tracks
Physical ability to balance, ascend/descend, climb, kneel, stoop, bend, crouch or crawl within assigned working conditions and or locations

Preferred

Spanish language proficiency a plus but not required
