Responsibilities
Define and lead the vision and strategy for adaptive reuse and repurposing initiatives across the New York region
Develop new business opportunities and expand client partnerships across commercial, institutional, and civic sectors
Collaborate with global and regional leaders to elevate thought leadership in sustainable transformation of existing buildings
Represent the practice in industry events and conversations on adaptive reuse, circular design, and decarbonization
Drive innovative, human-centered design solutions that reposition existing assets for modern needs
Guide teams through structure, systems, and envelope challenges unique to reuse projects
Ensure design quality, constructability, and environmental responsibility across all project phases
Integrate data, analytics, and digital tools to strengthen adaptive reuse strategies
Serve as a trusted advisor, building long-term relationships rooted in design insight and business value
Lead major pursuits, proposals, and presentations related to reuse and transformation
Partner with clients to define and achieve measurable social, environmental, and operational goals
Build, mentor, and inspire a multidisciplinary team within the New York studio
Foster a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning
Develop future leaders and promote innovation in reuse and transformation practices
Qualification
Required
Professional degree in Architecture; advanced degree preferred
Licensed Architect (RA) with eligibility for reciprocal registration
15+ years of experience, including leadership in adaptive reuse, repositioning, or large-scale repurposing projects
Strong design portfolio demonstrating innovation, sustainability, and performance-driven work
Proven ability to grow a practice, lead teams, and manage complex client relationships
Deep knowledge of sustainability frameworks, embodied carbon reduction, and regenerative design principles
Excellent communication, leadership, and strategic thinking abilities
