Senior Cabin Design Engineer

Responsibilities

Develop concepts and mechanical designs using sound 1st principal engineering principles
Cradle to grave design support–everything from conceptual development through design reviews through release and manufacturing support
Ensuring seat designs meet all performance and certification requirements
Collaboration with engineering and certification teams to incorporate best practices
Supply chain management
Ability and willingness to work across multi-disciplinary teams ranging from certification system engineering to manufacturing technicians
Creation of technical drawings and bill of materials
Support of certification process through documentation and testing

Required

B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant discipline
8 years of work experience in a relevant industry
Ability to visualize complex 3D systems
Keen eye for detail and willingness to design to strict aerospace standards
Ability to select appropriate materials, coatings, and hardware to support design
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Proficiency with CAD
Experience making engineering drawings and GD&T
Familiarity with FEM and hand calculations for structural sizing

Preferred

M.S/Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant discipline
12+ years of work experience in a relevant industry, aerospace knowledge preferred
Hands-on experience designing and building parts in Aluminum, titanium, composite, plastic, and foam
Certification experience to FAR Part 23/25/27/29
Cabin/interior aerospace design experience
Specific certification experience with aircraft seats
Experience with Dassault Systemes CATIA Part Design, Generative Shape design and Assembly Design
