Responsibilities

Greeting patients
Managing check-in and check-out procedures
Patient registration
Insurance verification
Appointment scheduling for various Cancer Services clinics
Scheduling and coordinating complex appointments clinic and infusion center appointments
Conducting registration processes
Verifying insurance and authorization
Updating patient demographics
Collecting co-pays
Preparing check-in forms and wristbands
Managing petty cash
Reviewing and updating work queues
Handling Epic InBasket messages
Scheduling mammograms and ultrasounds
Liaising with physicians, nurses, and other staff across various UCSD departments
Directing patients to the appropriate clinical settings
Facilitating a smooth patient flow
Providing coverage in different areas, including Infusion Services Call Center and check-in support
Performing other clerical and administrative duties as needed

Required

Three (3) years of relevant experience working in a large healthcare organization
Prior scheduling experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Advanced customer service skills in person and over the phone
Strong computer skills and abilities managing multiple systems during calls
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Strong attention to detail, organization, time management skills and abilities
Ability to build strong relationships with physicians, clinical and non-clinical team members, colleagues and leadership

Preferred

Experience working in Oncology, and/or a multispecialty clinic setting
Knowledge of Oncology, Infusion, Imaging, Radiology, Lab, and/or multispecialty scheduling
Experience with insurance, authorization, and referrals, including knowledge of third-party payors, including federal, state, and private health plans
Previous call center Experience
Epic Experience
Medical terminology training or certificate
Bilingual: English and Spanish
